Kanata Karonhià:ke (Sky World Village)

NEFOC Land Trust’s newest and most comprehensive articulation of our vision is Kanata Karonhià:ke (Sky World Village,) a visionary initiative designed to foster sustainability, preserve farmland, build community, and revitalize and interweave culture and solidarity through an interconnected series of partnership projects.

The cornerstone of the village is a vibrant community space, anchored by a cob oven, a renovated barn for gatherings, and lush native gardens. This hub will host seasonal celebrations, public workshops, and rentals, while featuring a mercantile and café, pottery maker space, tool library, and the Claudia J. Ford Liberation Library.

Adjacent to this space, the Haudenosaunee Food Sovereignty Farm will grow traditional foods like white corn and tobacco, supporting local Indigenous families.

Leased farmland will provide refugee and migrant farmers with resources to thrive, while an agroforestry project will transform local forests into edible and medicinal landscapes.

Central to this vision is the Village, an intergenerational, off-grid eco-community with efficient, customizable homes and shared spaces for elders, youth, and adults to live and care for one another. Together, these projects will generate revenue to sustain the project through memberships, workshops, rentals, and farm leases, all towards building a resilient, inclusive future rooted in mutual aid, land stewardship, and cultural connection.
