WILDSEED Community Farm & Healing Village
WILDSEED Project Overview
WILDSEED Community Farm & Healing Village is a transformative sanctuary in the Mid-Hudson Valley, New York. It exists as a creative and healing space dedicated to cultivating reciprocal relationships with land, water, and ecology. With the leadership of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) stewards, WILDSEED fosters a holistic approach to sustainability by growing food, medicine, and community as a foundation for solidarity economies that support ancestral and future generations.
History
WILDSEED was established in 2015 through a gift grounded in reparations, redistributing resources to communities historically deprived of land, political power, and access to basic necessities. The farm has since become a hub for transformative practices, hosting retreats, residencies, and skill-building programs for change-makers. It embodies values of dignity, self-determination, ecological reverence, and intergenerational responsibility.
Current Initiatives
The WILDSEED project is built on seven priority areas, including:
Agro-Ecological Community Farming
Healing Garden and Apothecary
Healing Justice Practice Space
Transformative Justice Initiatives
Youth Programming
Residency and Retreat Programs
Performance & Festival Site
Each of these areas integrates healing, education, and movement-building, centering community well-being and environmental stewardship.
Key partnerships, such as those with Northeast Farmers of Color Land Trust (NEFOC), Soul Fire Farm, and Rock Steady Farm, amplify the farm’s mission. These collaborations focus on sustainability, mutual aid, and advancing transformative justice through land-based projects.
Future Objectives
In partnership with NEFOC, WILDSEED is transitioning its land into a trust, preserving it for future generations and safeguarding it against exploitation. This process involves legal steps to ensure cultural respect, environmental care, and long-term governance. Key future goals include:
Creating a sustainable, self-sufficient sanctuary by increasing food and medicine production
Expanding infrastructure for agro-ecology, healing, and community engagement
Offering dignified employment and cooperative farming opportunities
Establishing affordable housing for BIPOC farmers, artists, and healers
Developing a co-living community centered on shared responsibilities, childcare, and resource-sharing.
WILDSEED's ultimate aim is to fortify a spiritual, ecological, and social home for collective healing, resilience, and liberation. The project envisions a future where interdependence with nature, land sovereignty, and justice-driven economies flourish.
